Patient Info

We perform laboratory testing on a range of different types of samples. The types of specimens we can collect at our blood test centres include: blood samples, urine and skin scrapings or swabs from, for example, your throat or ear.

The most commonly performed tests are done on a blood sample. A blood test is a laboratory analysis performed on a blood sample, which is usually bled from a vein in the arm using a needle.

Laboratory tests aid medical staff, including your GP, to make decisions about your health and well- being.

Your Doctor may order a laboratory test for a number of different reasons:

To provide information to assist with a diagnosis
To confirm a diagnosis
To monitor treatment
To allow early diagnosis of an illness before symptoms arise
To ensure selected treatment for an illness is the most appropriate
